Kawa is a cool old British catamaran from 1972. Of all the catamarans made at the time, the Iroquois is the most fun to sail, both because of its speed and altitude against the wind. It is sturdy and secure. Out of about 200 built, there are still 160-180 active boats in the company, that's saying something.

Sails smoothly up to 7-8 knots on cruises, and with a little effort you get it up nicely to 10-12 knots on veil / bilge. We have had it up to 16 knots in the inner Oslo fjord.

Very easy to single-sail as all ropes and gears are pulled behind to the aft deck.

For trips, it easily houses a group of friends or family with two or three children, and still has room for visitors. The two bunks in the front have room for one, while the rear bunks can accommodate two who love each other. The two sofa benches in the lounge can also be used for guests + the aft deck fits nicely with an inflatable mattress.

The boat was completely renovated by us in 2013. The keel structure was also reinforced in the fixing, on the recommendation of the designer, as this was a weakness from production. Now it can withstand everything, and much more than other sailboats.

The entire hull was rubbed down and repainted in 2017.

Now it takes some love to get her pretty again, both inside and outside, and some spending on new equipment and parts that have aged. The work that was supposed to be done after the renovation is not completely finished inside, but everything is in good condition and works fine.

Kawa is located on land with the Multihull Association at Sollerud in Oslo.

Engine type Yamaha Hight Trust 9.9. Authorized maintenance last years and little hours on this. By the way, requires little maintenance. On engines you can easily maintain six knots in both headwind and sea. With a 60L gas tank, you also quickly forget to refill.

Installed own starter battery prepared for connection with other electrical grids (consumption battery). Cables and equipment included just haven't been priorities/needs enough until now.

Mast switched in 2012 and new struts and won. The mast is from 1985, and is taken from a Maxi 900. It is about two metres higher than standard, but due to the fractional rigging the sail area is about the same. But it crosses much better than with the original rig.

New sails in 2014 from UK Sailmakers (Mainsail and genua) and an old tired gennaker that gives lots of speed :)

New kick 2014

New trail 2014

The boat was sandblasted in 2013, where a new gelcoat was laid. Externally, the boat has been rubbed down and painted up in 2017.

Newly welded and reinforced engine racket 2017.

New windows in 2014.

Two bathing platforms with bathing staircase mounted 2015, one of which must be turned on slightly.

New pipes 2015. The tillers and rudder blades need plastering and care.

Sprayhood from 2013, needs to be replaced, but the rest of the cockipit tent from the same vintage is very good condition. The trampoline must be replaced. One keel must either be repaired or replaced.

And mattresses in the bunks can be advantageously replaced.
