Colin Archer 39,3
UK registered
Hilde is a modified Collin Archer 39'3'' cruiser. Designed by Cecil Chr Stephansen in 1982 and launched in 1988.
The boat is solidly built with a strong rig and a ferrocement hull. The hull is very well built with no rust.
This is a boat that will withstand a lot of weather, but which can also provide the opportunity to experience the best aspects of boating. Deck and superstructure are teak and mahogany. Unfortunately, it was neglected in the last few years before I bought it, and I haven't been able to finish the work.
The boat has probably seen better days, but with a loving hand can become a beautiful boat for those who like quiet sailing trips and pleasant comments.
The first thing we managed to do after taking over was unfortunately to collide with a wharf. This resulted in bending of the splitter stay and lifting of the bowsprit with a small hole in the rear deck. (See picture)
We then found out that the stays loosened because of this, and thus have not hoisted the sails in the wind. To fix this, you will have to dismantle the teak deck in the bow and add new crossbeams and veneer sheets. When it is put together nicely afterwards and the stays are tightened, it will be ready to fill the sails once again.
At the rear of the cabin on both the starboard and port sides there is rot in the framework, which I have started to dismantle and dry out. The roof of the toilet should also be replaced. I have done quite a bit of work, including creating a more spacious sitting area inside, and sanding the covered deck.
Length 39.3 ft beam 3.50 m, engine Sabb 30 hp, This is a rig that can be handled well alone with the right knowledge. I haven't been able to sail much myself, but I know that it has previously gone on solo trips along the Norwegian coast and that it has sailed to Shetland and the Orkney Islands.
The engine is a freshwater-cooled Sabb 30 Hk 2J turning propeller.
Aluminum diesel tank in engine compartment (180 litres)
2 pcs 100 Ah consumer batteries and 1 pc 70 Ah starter battery
2 permanently mounted DEFA battery chargers for shore connection. The defa system also supplies 220V to double sockets in the galley and in the foremast
The boat has 2 berths in the foremast and 2 berths (of which 1 sofa) in the salon.
The galley has two stainless basins, fresh water via a foot pump from a tank in the engine room. (180 litres?) Stove with two gas burners.
Built-in 12V Cooler box with independent isotherm compressor
Toilet room with stainless sink, fresh water via foot pump from own tank.
Electric toilet with optional flushing. Either to a septic tank or to the open sea. The septic tank is emptied at sea with a hand pump. One attachment to the toilet seat broke, so the water passage is sealed to prevent leakage.
Trumatic propane hot air system with thermostat control. This is disconnected, as it was not grouted. (The lighter that is the problem?)
Common propane tank/bottle is located in the cockpit. It supplies gas to the galley.
